How clinics are listed
Every clinic below was checked directly on 16 July 2026: we visited its live site, read its published fees, and looked up pharmacy registrations on the GPhC register where a registration number was shown. Clinics are listed alphabetically. The filters narrow the list by payment model and whether a free consultation was shown; they do not rank or recommend a provider. Where a detail could not be independently confirmed, we left the relevant badge off rather than guess.
The clinics, in more detail
e-Surgery
Runs a free online questionnaire with no consultation fee, and lists per-item prices openly (finasteride from £13.45). Registered with the GPhC (premises registration 9012167), with a named Superintendent Pharmacist. Owned by Total Access Health Ltd. Next-day delivery stated; exact cost not shown on the pages we checked.
Boots Online Doctor
A one-off purchase model rather than a subscription, with repeat hair-loss prescriptions available for up to 12 months without a new consultation. Free standard delivery, or collection from a Boots store. We could not find a GPhC registration number displayed on the pages we checked, only a doctor’s GMC number, so we haven’t shown a GPhC badge for Boots pending confirmation.
The Independent Pharmacy
Free consultation, one-off orders (not a subscription), with same-day dispatch if approved before 3pm. Two GPhC premises registrations are shown (9012559 and 1120908), plus a CQC registration, both linked from their own regulation page. Owned by ABSM Healthcare Ltd, prescribing via a sister company, Red Label Medical Ltd.
Numan
Built around a recurring subscription model rather than one-off orders, with free delivery. GPhC premises registration 9011408 and CQC regulation are both shown, with a named Superintendent Pharmacist. Owned by Vir Health Limited.
Manual
Also subscription-based, with free delivery. Manual is part of the Voy group. A registration number is shown on their site, but its format looks more like an individual pharmacist number than a premises number, so we’re showing it as unconfirmed rather than displaying it as a verified GPhC badge until we can match it directly against the register.
Superdrug Online Doctor
A free questionnaire with one-off purchase pricing (finasteride from £27.00), plus the option of same-day collection from a Superdrug pharmacy. Superdrug Online Doctor is operated by Health Bridge Ltd, trading as Zava, which was acquired by Hims & Hers Health Inc. in July 2025 — worth knowing, since three “different” clinics in this market increasingly share the same parent company. We were not able to confirm a specific GPhC registration number on the pages we checked.
MedExpress
Free consultation, pay-per-order (no subscription), with express delivery available. GPhC premises registration 9012633 is confirmed. Founded by Prof. James Kingsland OBE; owned by MedExpress Enterprises Ltd.
Oxford Online Pharmacy
Free consultation via a short form, pay-per-treatment pricing, same-day dispatch if ordered before 1pm. GPhC premises registration 9012796 and a CQC rating of “Good” (last rated July 2019) are both shown. Owned by Frosts (Online) Limited.
Dr Fox
Structured differently from the others: instead of a fixed consultation fee, Dr Fox charges a small prescription fee that scales with order value (£1 to £4). Delivery is £2.90 via Royal Mail Tracked 24. GPhC registered (1124326) and CQC rated “Good.” We don’t have a commercial relationship with Dr Fox — it’s included here because it’s a genuinely competitive option on fees, not because it pays us anything.
What none of this tells you
None of the above is a recommendation of one treatment over another, or proof that a cheaper consultation means a better clinical outcome. It’s a comparison of the service, fees and verification we could check today. The right prescriber for you is one who reviews your health history properly, not necessarily the cheapest one on this page.
